The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) is calling for applications from Indian scholars for its Fellowship Scheme for the 2024-2025 academic year. Candidates may begin submitting their online applications on the ICSSR website starting from 02.08.2024.

The deadline for online application submissions is September 03, 2024, while the final date for the receipt of hard copies of applications at ICSSR is September 10, 2024. Applicants are advised to print the online application form and send it along with all required annexures to the designated address.

Type of Centrally Administered Doctoral Fellowship Schemes of the ICSSR

(I) ICSSR Full-Term Doctoral Fellowship Scheme 2024 (The total duration of the Full-term Doctoral Fellowship shall be two years)

(II) ICSSR Short-Term Doctoral Fellowship Scheme 2024 (The total duration of the Full-term Doctoral Fellowship shall be Six Months)

About ICSSR Centrally Administered Doctoral Fellowships

The ICSSR Grant-in-aid Research Institutes will announce a call for the Institutional Doctoral Fellowship Scheme. Applicants wishing to be considered for this scheme must submit their applications online via the ICSSR website, selecting ‘Institutional’ in Section 1.1 of the application form and ‘ICSSR Research Institute’ in Part IV, Section 13A of the online application. Additionally, the hard copies of the applications should be sent by the respective ICSSR Research Institutes.

Guidelines for ICSSR Research Proposal

1. The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) actively promotes and supports Ph.D. candidates in their pursuit of doctoral studies within the fields of social and human sciences. The selection process for Doctoral Fellowships emphasizes innovative research proposals that have the potential to significantly enhance the existing body of knowledge. The ICSSR prioritizes research that addresses evolving societal dynamics and social challenges, aiming to contribute to India’s goal of becoming a global leader through effective, evidence-based research.

2. Doctoral Fellowships will be granted to Indian researchers who are enrolled in Ph.D. programs at universities recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), deemed universities, institutes of national importance as designated by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and UGC, ICSSR research institutes, and colleges with accredited Ph.D. programs. For the financial year 2024-25, these fellowships will be available in various domains of social and human sciences.
